None of the side quests interested me at all, and I only looked forward to the climax of every main quest, because of a cool boss battle or meaningful story beat. It's alright, but nothing special in my book. I didn't keep playing Ruined King for the story though. The game certainly didn't have any clever counters for my Illaoi/Miss Fortune party setup. I unfortunately resorted to spam the same overpowered attack combinations from the game's halfway point all the way to the end credits, which quickly became very repetitive and boring, but that might have been my own fault. Combat and skill progression make room for experimentation with each character and is intricate enough to keep your attention. If you like League lore, or have a desire to learn more about it, and don't mind learning a simple combat system, I recommend giving this one a try. Riot's world building is so underrated, in my opinion. Seeing the Champions interacting, building a relationship outside of just some lines of dialogue on Summoner's Rift is endlessly satisfying for me.

The biggest selling point for me, however, is League of Legends lore.

There is a minor difficulty spike later into the story, which isn't anything to be scared of, but will have you scheming the best way to win and progress more so than you probably were earlier.

There is a good sense of progression without feeling grindy. The combat system is simple and satisfying enough for anyone who isn't well versed in turn based games, or even RPG veterans who want a more laid back experience. I'm not typically a fan of turn based games, outside of the occasional nostalgia trip down Pokemon Emerald lane, but I am thoroughly enjoying this one.
